These woodcut blocks aim to draw attention to the work Wakefield City of Sanctuary volunteers do as they offer ‘a generous welcome’ to refugees arriving in the city. The hands featured are of one particular woman – Linda – who offers unending kindness in light of enormous problems the organisation had no power to affect.

I met Linda during the Migrations residency
