Stilled Lives
2020
Stilled Lives is a four part work, commissioned to connect audiences to the Leeds Art Gallery based exhibition Natural Encounters and to help people cope during lockdown. Audiences were invited to notice – beauty, colour, the weather, nature, change, roses as a symbol of England, memories, environmental concern, how we feel looking at something for a longer time than usual and Covid 19 slowness
The four parts are:
A selection of Still Live paintings from the Leeds Gallery Collection Archive shared online.
An eight minute film: You know you are looking at something more than what you seem to be looking at featuring a spectrum of Roses found on my daily walks.
A twilight gallery zoom event to bring audiences together around my work and the gallery show.
Funded by Leeds Art Gallery.
